Amaravati/Chandigarh April 28: Indian Journalists Union strongly condemned the brutal murder of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, a senior reporter, working with Andhra Jyothi at Venkatagiri Kota in Chittor district, Andhrapradesh.
In the statement Balwindar Singh Jammu, President and D. Soma Sundar Secretary General of IJU said that the horrific incident took place on the early morning of 28th April while the victim was on his morning walk.
The culprits attacked Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy with Knives and he Succumbed to the attack on the spot. The statement also stated that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy had recently published reports on the Sandalwood mafia in Chittoor District.
The IJU expressed serious concern over the murder and demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and the immediate arrest of both the perpetrators and those who masterminded the crime.
The IJU urged the government of Andhra Pradesh to enact a separate law to protect journalists and to prevent such incidents in the future, ensuring freedom of the press.
