Chandigarh- The two-day National Executive Meeting of Indian Journalists Union (IJU) has commenced at Kisan Bhavan in Chandigarh. In this meeting, Minister of Information and Public Relations of Punjab, Chetan Singh Jauramajra attended the meeting as chief guest in the first half of first day of the session.
The National President of Indian Journalists Union Srinivas Reddy, National Media Adviser to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Amar Devlapalli, Former President of IJU SN Sinha, Editor of Scribes’ News Magazine Suresh Alapati and National General Secretary of the organization Balwinder Singh were present in this meeting. It is mentionable that more than 100 eminent journalists have arrived from 20 states of the country including Jammu who shared their views to save Journalism. Punjab Information and Public Relations Minister Chetan Singh Jouramjara said that media plays an important role in creating a good society. That is why it is necessary for the strengthening of democracy to be fair and independent of the media.
It is also the first responsibility of the media to present the real activities going on in the society to the people. He said that nowadays social media , at times, broadcast fake news that spreads chaos in the society. He appealed to the journalist community to fulfill their responsibility to present the real picture to the society. He said journalists must keep in mind the ongoing propaganda going-on on social media, no disinformation should be avoided to strengthen democracy. He said that in the current situation, the journalist community is facing many challenges. The Chief Minister will definitely contact Bhagwant Mann to resolve them. National President of Indian Journalists Union (IJU). The president of SK Sinha said that in today’s time everyone wants to control the media, where governments are starting to suppress the media.
At the same time, some capitalist houses have taken over the media by acquiring the ownership of the media. He said that for the creation of a good society it is necessary to be independent of the media. Secretary General of Indian Journalists Union and former member of Press Council of India Balwinder Singh Jammu, President of Punjab and Chandigarh Journalists Union Balveer Singh Jandu, Chandigarh and Haryana Journalists Union President Ram Singh Brar , political expert and scholar Piyara Lal Garg also spoke on this occasion.
They shed light on the problems of the media in today’s times.
