Chandigarh , December 13 – A delegation of Chandigarh and Haryana Journalists Union (Regd.) led by President Ram Singh Brar met Bandaru Dattatreya, Governor of Haryana at Haryana Raj Bhawan today and handed over a memorandum. The delegation of Chandigarh and Haryana Journalists Union affiliated to the Indian Journalists Union included former National President of IJU SN Sinha, General Secretary Balwinder Jammu, Chandigarh and Haryana Journalists Union Chairman Balwant Takshak, Press Club President Nalin Acharya, Union Vice President Nisha. Sharma, General Secretary Surinder Goyal , Secretary Abhishek and Vinod, Secretary General of Punjab and Chandigarh Journalists Union Pritam Rupal, PCJU Chandigarh President Jai Singh Chhibber, General Secretary Bindu Singh and Executive Member Atish Gupta .
On this occasion Ram Singh Brar briefed the Governor about the demands of the journalists in detail. Brar putting forward the demand list asked the Governor that financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh should be given to the bereaved damily members of the journalists who died due to Corono considering these cases under corona warriors category , to set up a state level accrediation committee and also simplify the rules and procession of accrediation so that the journalists working in small towns and cities also get its benefit.
He demanded to reduce the condition of non-accredited journalists and also to provide cashless medical facility to all journalists. Brar said that among the other demands , the increase in quota of government houses for the journalists of Haryana in Chandigarh and Panchkula, to provide facility of government houses to the journalists at district and sub division level on the pattern of Chandigarh. , Allotment of plots on land under urban development schemes on priority basis at district and sub division level, elimination of kilometer limit on free bus travel of journalists, exemption at toll plazas.
These include the removal of the kilometer limit on free bus travel for journalists, discounts on toll plazas and transparency in advertising policy. Brar said that the Governor heard to the demands of the journalists in a positive manner and assured that the government would seriously consider the demands of the journalists.
