Overwhelming response to IJU call in Andhra Pradesh !
Responding to the call given by the IJU “Journalists Demands Day” was observed today in Andhra Pradesh in a big way. Hundreds of journalists joined the Demands Day programs across the State. The APUWJ leadership at district headquarters towns has submitted Memorandums to the District collectors (DMs).
As per the reports recieved by the state Hq of the APUWJ the programs were organised in Twenty Districts Out of total 26 districts in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The demands day program was observed at the district Headquarters towns of Srikakulam , Parvathipuram , Araku ,Vijayanagaram , Vizag , Anakapalli , East Godavari , West Godavari , NTR district , Machilipatnam , Guntur ,Palnad , Bapatla , Prakasam ,Nellore , Thirupathi , Ananthapuram , Kadapa , Nandyal.
In Anakapalli district local units of APUWJ at Narsipatnam , Chodavaram , Araku centers has also organised the program. At Machilipatnam APUWJ leaders met Mrs RK Roja, the Minister for Cultural affairs and youth services and Mr Jogi Ramesh ,the Minister for Housing ,Govt of AP , has submitted the memorandums.
The tremendous response received from journalists to the IJU call was seen as an expression of their anger against the State Government’s inaction related to the welfare of the Working Journalists. It is now known to the entire fraternity that this Govt has done nothing to the Working Journalists in the past three years.
